Johnny A. Carlock, Sr. received his BSEE from the University of Arkansas in August 1985. He has completed a number of hours toward the MBA program at UALR, and continues his education through attendance at conferences, workshops and short courses to stay abreast of both power and oil and gas industry standards, best practices, new products and emerging technology. Following graduation from the U of A, he started working at Arkansas Electric Cooperative Corporation as a Design Engineer, and remained there until 1997. Additional places of employment included Southwest Power Pool, R-Delta Engineers, Inc., the City of Garland, TX, URS Corporation and Burns & McDonnell. Since May 2015, he has been employed as a Power Engineering Manager with Pioneer Natural Resources in Irving, TX. In that position, he is responsible for the planning, design, construction, and protective equipment of the electrical distribution system serving drilling, completions, production and water handling facilities. His duties also include coordination with serving utilities, regulatory agencies, trade organizations and Permian basin based operator coalitions. He is a member of IEEE, and served as Chairman of the Arkansas Section in 1994-95. He has served as Vice-Chairman/Chairman of PBPA-Electrical Coalition since 2018. He is a professional engineer in the states of Arkansas and Texas, and as such is a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers. Mr. Carlock lives in Desoto, TX, with his wife of 38 years, Juana. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with their 6 grandchildren, traveling and learning to play acoustic guitar.
