John (“Jack”) Bourne received the BSEE and BSME from the University of Arkansas in May 2007.  He then received his MS in Mechanical Engineering in May 2011, also from the U of A, and competed postgraduate studies in embedded systems engineering from the University of California at San Diego.  He started working at Arkansas Power Electronics International, Inc. (now part of Wolfspeed, Inc.)  and was engaged in numerous power electronics R&D efforts for SiC systems and extreme environments .  He then spent a decade developing industrial power supplies for power generation, oil/gas,  and energy storage markets.  From 2013-2017 he worked on high voltage power supplies (NWL in Bordentown, NJ) to 300kVDC including outdoor enclosures, high frequency magnetics development, and products certified for hazardous locations.  From 2017-2023 he worked on grid tied inverters and battery interface circuits from 100-1500kVA (EPC Power Corp in San Diego, CA).  He has recently begun working with Amazon’s Project Kuiper to develop conversion systems for satellite applications.   He is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Arkansas.  Jack currently lives in Redmond, WA with his wife Maggie and their 2 dogs.  In his spare time, he enjoys cooking, guitar, and home projects.
